MOD MODERNISES ITS IMAGE AS AN EMPLOYER

The Ministry of Defence has launched what it calls a ‘whole life’ approach to the men and women who join the services.In the past the MOD has been criticised by some ex-servicemen and women for a lack of support once they leave.
But now an estimated 15 million ex-service personnel and their dependents have access to a dedicated call centre which will provide both a listening service and provide informed and practical advice.

MATRONS AND PRIVATE FINANCE WAY AHEAD FOR NHS

The Conservatives are calling for more private sector funding and the return of matrons for the NHS.Shadow Secretary of State for Health Ann Widdecombe told the party conference that she wants a further year of debate on the future of health care.
She said: “Labour whipped up expectations before the election. They led the British people to believe that, when it comes to our Health Service, they can have it all and have it on the cheap. This is just not possible. 

THE GLUE THAT BINDS - THE VALUE OF PUBLIC SERVICES

In the first annual report on the state of Britain’s public services, the Public Management Foundation and MORI conducted a joint survey of over 1,000 people across the UK. The findings demonstrate a popular consensus about the value of public services. 94% of the population believe that public services are essential in a modern society and 97% believe they should be there for everyone.
