Proposals for rigorous new national standards for quality and consistency in the treatment of heart disease have been announced by the Health Department.The proposed standards are outlined in the Emerging Findings Report from the Expert ReferenceGroup which is drawing up the new National Service Framework on coronary heart disease.
The Framework will set out action to be taken across the board by the NHS to cut deaths and illnesses from this major killer. 

THE Local Government Association, Further Education Funding Council and Training and Enterprise Council have all welcomed David Blunkett’s announcement of twenty five million pounds to kick start a new partnership fund to develop post-16 education and training.The groups came together to end unecessary duplication and competition in the sector. They will now be calling on local organisations to co-ordinate partnerships in their own areas and bid for some of the cash.
