COUNCILS CRITICISED ON PLANNING

Local authorities have been criticised for failing to have plans for how their areas should be developed, and also for the time still being taken to process individual planning applications.Planning Minister, Richard Caborn said the knock-on effect was bad for the provision of news jobs and services in each region, and for regeneration programmes.

NEW INITIATIVES ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Baroness Jay, Minister for Women, has welcomed a new package of measures to tackle domestic violence as part of a Government drive to crackdown on crime and its causes.The Crime Reduction Programme, “Reducing Crime and Tackling its Causes”, has been published by the Home Office after working closely with the Women’s Unit in the Cabinet Office.
