INALND REVENUE - CUSTOMS PARTNERSHIP

Headlines, PublicNet: 9 April, 1999

Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise are developing a programme of closer working. All Board meetings are attended by an observer who feeds back decisions to the other department. The observer does not have any representative responsibility but the arrangement ensures that each Board has first hand knowledge of thinking and plans.
In a move that will pave the way for integrating the office structures of the two departments, procurement of joint accommodation has started.

NHS - PRISON SERVICE PARTNERSHIP

Headlines, PublicNet: 9 April, 1999

The NHS and the Prison Service have formed a partnership to improve the healthcare provided to prisoners. The partnership is an example of joined up service delivery and joined up policy making. Reasons for this poor performance included lack of strategic direction and difficulties in recruiting and retaining staff.

TARGET SETTING AND GOAL ACHIEVEMENT

Book News, PublicNet: 9 April, 1999

Richard Hale and Peter Whitlam
Newly revised to reflect the latest research, yet still highly practical in its focus, this is a book designed to confound a common misconception and demonstrate that target setting is possible within all functions of an organisation and across all sectors.
The new edition includes information on 360 degree feedback and discusses target setting at both individual and team level. It gives clear guidelines supported by real examples and detailed case studies.
