Rising school exclusions, particularly among ethnic minority groups, are posing a threat to the target of reducing truancy and exclusions by one third by 2002. To counter the threat The Runnymede Trust research on exclusions and its implications published in December 1998 is now being translated into action across a broad front. 

A new forum for the New Deal for Communities partnerships to share their knowledge has been launched on the regeneration website www.regen.net. The New Deal for Communities takes forward the Government’s commitment to tackle social exclusion and the gap between the poorest neighbourhoods and the rest of the country.
The site is a free one-stop shop providing the latest information on regeneration activities.
