Headlines, PublicNet: 28 November, 2000

A new service has been launched to meet the temporary placement market in the public sector. Publictemps (www.publictemps.co.uk) provides a market place for local councils, health trusts and housing associations looking for people with particular skills, to meet people offering themselves for short term contracts. The service is currently limited to skills in IT, finance, audit and management, but it will be extended to other areas. From the vacancies and CVs databases recruiters and job seekers can match their requirements. Job seekers registering their CVs will receive a service which includes negotiation of contract rates with the employer and arrangement of interviews. To limit the risk of current employers discovering that their staff are seeking a contract elsewhere, all CVs on the database will be anonymous and the names of current and previous employers will be replace by a description of the organisation.
