BRACKNELL FOREST INTRODUCES SMART CARD

Bracknell Forest residents will be able to use a single, multi-function smart card to purchase local services, borrow library books and participate in local retail loyalty schemes as part of a new initiative by the borough council and BT Ignite Solutions.The deal, worth nearly 3.3 million pounds, is the first of its kind to use such an extensive smart card programme to streamline service delivery to citizens.

The provision of MBAs designed for managers in the public service is more than doubled with the announcement of three new institutions approved to offer the qualification.And there is a new drive from the Head of the Home Civil Service, Sir Richard Wilson, to increase substantially the number of civil servants who go on the flagship courses known as public sector MBAs (PSMBAs).

A survey by ORC International.The survey examined perceptions of staff working in the Civil Service. It shows that the Civil Service scores above average on questions about fairness and equality when compared with other public, private and voluntary sector employers.
