SEMINARS OFFER COUNCILS A VOICE ON INTEGRATION AND COHESION

 

Regeneration programmes will be the focus of the first of four seminars being organised to provide evidence for the Commission on Integration and Cohesion and which will begin later this month. The events, which will take place in different parts of the country, are to be run by the Local Government Information Unit as a route though which local authority members and officers can contribute to the debate on cohesion and integration.

COUNCIL AMONG ORGANISATIONS TO RUN FLOOD PROTECTION POLICY PILOT SCHEMES

 

A Devon local authority is among the organisations that will run pilot schemes designed to push the boundaries of policy on flooding and coastal erosion. South Hams District Council will lead a project to develop and implement a sustainable community-based adaptation programme for the coast at Slapton Sands. The six pilots have been announced by the Minister for Climate Change and Environment Ian Pearson.

They summarise the benefits spaces bring and show how public space consciousness can be raised in regeneration plans.
