AGREEMENTS SET TO ‘REVOLUTIONISE RUNNING’ OF CITY’S COMMUNITIES

 

A series of Neighbourhood Agreements are due to be signed in Liverpool and the City Council believes they will revolutionise the way local communities are run. The agreements will see politicians, police, health, council staff and community and voluntary agencies reaching an accord on shared priorities. The aim is to improve employment prospects and the environment and to lead to local people having more healthy lifestyles.

SYSTEM OF WASTE PFI CREDITS TO CHANGE

 

Changes are being made to the system through which local authorities apply to Defra for waste PFI credits to help them pay for the infrastructure that will be needed if Britain is to meet targets for dealing with rubbish without sending it to landfill sites. Under the changes there will now be award rounds similar to those used by other Government departments rather than money being allocated on a first come first served basis.
