SEARCH ON FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS OF THE YEAR

Entries for the Public Servants of the Year awards 2007 are invited from public servants at all levels, including both executives and non-executives, across public services. The awards, which are run by Public Finance
magazine, are supported by the Cabinet Office, MORI and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

SEARCH ON FOR ENTERPRISING COMMUNITIES

The Department of Trade and Industry has launched Enterprising Britain 2007, a competition to find cities, towns and communities that have placed enterprise at their heart. The competition is a key part of the Government’s drive to increase entrepreneurship in the UK, identify areas of enterprise excellence and places that have created jobs, brought communities together, and made a real difference to local people and local businesses.

This programme is now available to view on egovtv.tv, the online television channel for public service modernisation. The programme examines the role of the Preventative Technology Grant, the PASA Framework and the range of telecare services and technologies with which local authorities can start to introduce telecare to support the elderly, the vulnerable and pressured care services.The programme also looks at the wide range of telecare social home care packages that are being successfully implemented in councils around the country. It explores the broad spectrum of benefits that are being realised from improved dignity and independence for service users through to more effective management of commissioned care services.
