COMMISSION CONFIRMS CONCERNS OVER FUTURE OF PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY BY CHARITIES

 

Charities that deliver public services are facing a mixed future according to the results of the first ever survey of all charities. More than six out of ten charities with incomes over half a million pounds a year deliver services on behalf of public authorities, but more than 40 per cent of them are not being paid enough to meet the costs involved, according to the Charity Commission.

SATISFACTION WITH COUNCILS STILL IN DECLINE DESPITE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE

 

The performance of single tier and county councils is improving overall, but new figures from the Audit Commission show that many local people still remain to be convinced. For the first time since the Comprehensive Performance Assessment process began in 2002 no single tier or county council is in the bottom CPA category but levels of satisfaction with the authorities have fallen again.
