STUDY FINDS NO EVIDENCE THAT WALK-IN CENTRES CUT GP WAITING TIMES

 

Researchers have found no evidence that National Health Service walk-in centres have an impact on the length of time that patients wait to see a GP. The study, published today in the BMJ, says findings so far are also inconclusive on the issue of whether the centres actually increase demand rather that reducing the workload for primary care.

COUNCILS FACE TOUGH TEST FOR FUTURE CHANGES IN SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION

 

Local authorities will face tough new tests in future when they are considering changing their educational provision for children with special needs. They have been sent draft guidance on planning and developing their support for children. Final guidance will be published later in the year after consultations with parents and other groups and when councils have had a chance to make comments.
