INQUIRY LOOKS AT HEALTHCARE FOR PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES AFTER REPORT INTO DEATHS

 

A former Chief Executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, is to lead an independent inquiry into access to healthcare for people with learning disabilities. The inquiry has been set up following a report earlier this year by the mental health charity Mencap into the deaths of six people with learning disabilities and will aim to learn lessons from those cases.

STUDY LOOKS AT IMPACT ON JOBS AND HARDSHIP OF LONG-TERM ILL HEALTH

 

New research shows that people with long-term health problems face equally reduced chances of finding work whatever their ethnic background may be, but it found that people from ethnic minorities who are in bad health and who do not have a job are much less likely to receive sickness-related benefits than white counterparts.
