This survey from the Chartered Management Institute and Remuneration Economics reveals trends in local government employment.

The findings show resignation rates amongst women in local government stand at 9.7 per cent, up from 4 per cent last year. Representing employees from trainee level to chief executive, this figure is also higher than the national average of 7.8 per cent. The survey also reveals that resignation rates are lower amongst men in the sector at 2.4 per cent, ensuring continuation of the recent trend that sees women more likely to quit their jobs.

NEW SCHEME TO BOOST HOUSE BUILDING MAY REWARD COUNCILS FOR ‘NUMBERS GAME’

A government pledge of an extra 500 million pounds to local authorities that take steps to increase housing provision, including finding land for new homes, risks rewarding those councils that play a crude numbers game, according to the Local Government Association. The LGA believes the announcement ignores the needs of many authorities.

SOCIAL SERVICES CHIEFS SET OUT STEPS TO PROTECT ADULTS

Adult social services leaders have today presented a 7-point plan to the Government to strengthen the law to protect adults from abuse. They are warning that moves towards giving individuals more freedom to spend their own care budgets need to be matched by far greater legal protection against the possibilities of abuse.
