THIRD SECTOR JOINS UP TO GIVE SUPPORT

Information about support available to people in need from almost 800 charities in the UK has been brought together for the first time. A new website – www.turn2us.org.uk has been launched to provide users with details of all of the state benefits and charity grants available to them.

ANALYSIS SHOWS SOME COUNCILS WILL STRUGGLE WITH SAVINGS TARGETS

Some local authorities will struggle with the latest efficiency savings targets, according to analysis from the Local Government Information Unit. It says, though, that the Comprehensive Spending Review does present opportunities for local government but there must be a move to greater devolution.

WELCOME AND WARNINGS OVER ‘MEANS TEST’ REVIEW

Local government organisations have given a broad welcome to the announcement that the Government is to review the way that people pay for their social care. They are warning, though, that changes will have to be linked to realistic funding and that there is still a long way to go before the issue is resolved.
