CARE INQUIRY LOOKS BEYOND MOVING MONEY AROUND

Simply moving money around Government is not the way to solve the crisis in care funding, according to the Local Government Information unit, which is advising an inquiry into long-term care and the well- being of older people. The inquiry is being conducted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Local Government and is made up of MPs and Peers with an interest in local government.

CALL FOR CONCERTED CAMPAIGN AGAINST LITTER

Countryside campaigners want central government, local councils and other enforcement bodies to make a concerted effort to clean up litter and fly-tipping.

The Campaign for the Protection of Rural England says the problems are most acute in rural areas,where litter and illegally dumped rubbish often remain unmoved longer than in towns and cities.
