Cases of fraud in local voting almost led to the Council of Europe stepping in with special election monitoring processes according to the annual report of the Committee on Standards in Public Life. The report raises a number of issues on MPs’ expenses and allowances and on political party funding but also highlights fears over the vulnerability to fraud of the electoral system.

COMMISSION SEEKS OPINIONS ON CHANGES TO COUNCIL ASSESSMENTS

The Commission for Social Care Inspection wants to hear the views of care providers on proposed changes to the system for measuring local councils’ performance. Changes to the way local authorities are assessed on their provision of care for adults will be made in the current financial year.
The CSCI is asking directors of adult social care services, other providers of care services and those working in the field of social care performance assessment to submit their views before August 8th. 

PATHWAYS TO WORK EVALUATION

This report from the Department for Work and Pensions sets out findings from independent research on the effectiveness of the Pathways to Work package of reforms. The aim of the package is to encourage employment among people claiming incapacity benefits.
Pathways has increased the rate of employment entry.
