NEIGHBOURHOOD LEARNING SCHEMES ‘HELPING COMMUNITY RENEWAL’

Education inspectors say projects run under the Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities scheme are bringing communities together and boosting educational, training and job opportunities for people who are most in need. A report published today by Ofsted finds that two-thirds of adult learning providers that it surveyed have established strong links with local organisations to ensure the project funding is meeting a diverse range of needs.

DEALING WITH LITTER NOT JUST DOWN TO COUNCILS SAYS MINISTER

The Government has published the final part of a two year survey assessing the quality of the environment in districts across England. The Extended Local Environment Quality Survey gives detailed information for each local authority on their performance in managing environmental problems – but the Government is stressing that dealing with litter must not be left to councils alone.

OUTCOMES OF THE YOUTH OPPORTUNITY AND CAPITAL FUNDS

The Youth Opportunity and Capital Funds are providing young people with a voice and decision-making power leading to greater participation and an improvement in the quality of activities. This is the conclusion of an evaluation of the impact of the funds, which will run until 2011.
