PORTAL AIMS TO HELP POLICY MAKERS BUILD STRONGER COMMUNITIES

A website has been launched to help professionals and policy makers to create stronger and more cohesive communities. The interactive site has been developed by the Institute of Community Cohesion – iCoCo and is designed to bring together practical advice on ways to promote cohesion and integration and to draw on good practice case studies from across the country.
The site is aimed at practitioners, policy-makers and staff from organisations from a whole range of sectors.

VIEWS SOUGHT ON CHANGES TO PREVENT ABUSE OF ADULTS IN CARE SYSTEM

Local authorities and health service professionals are being asked for their views on whether changes need to be made to measures to protect vulnerable adults from all forms of abuse in the care system. Under the existing ‘’No Secrets’ guidance councils, the police and the NHS work together to safeguard vulnerable people but now the Government wants to know what improvements could be made.

Good service in the public sector is difficult to define, but you know when you get it. It is different to good service in the private sector because the answer may be ‘no’, yet the service may be excellent. The author looks at the barriers to good service and some of the practices that could be changed.
