CAMPAIGNERS WELCOME MPs ‘REPORT ON HOUSING TARGETS

A report today which calls on the Government to revise its housing targets has been welcomed by green campaigners. The Environmental Audit Committee is warning in its report that unless the targets for new homes are cut in the light of the economic downturn there could be a swathe of green field development.

EVENTS MARK 10 YEARS OF THE COMPACT

Special events are being staged this week to mark a decade of the Compact, the agreement which sets out how voluntary groups and charities work with the Government. Compact Week has been organised to promote the Compact to public sector organisations and the third sector.

INNOVATION LOW ON THE MANAGEMENT AGENDA

A study of senior managers’ views by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development revealed that organisations in the UK are failing to embrace management innovation.

The study revealed that few organizations have got to grips with the potential of “Web 2.0 tools, such as Social Networking, Wikis, and Blogs, although their potential for changing the nature of management, such as how decisions are made, motivating employees, and coordinating activities, are profound.
