NUMBER OF MINORITY WOMEN COUNCILLORS FALLS

New research shows there are fewer black, Asian and minority ethnic women councillors than there were in 2006. The Minister for Women and Equalities, Harriett Harman has reminded local authorities they need more women from minority backgrounds and that their numbers need to be increased almost ten fold.

POLITICIANS WARNED JOBS ARE ON LINE OVER DEMENTIA RESEARCH FUNDING

Politicians are being warned that their jobs – as well as their health – may be at risk unless they invest more money in research into dementia. The warning has come from the Alzheimer’s Research Trust which has published a YouGov survey showing that four out of five older people believe investment in research should be increased.
