STUDY QUESTIONS VALUE OF EXAMS TO ASSESS PUPILS

Six out of ten teachers do not believe that examinations are the best way to assess pupils according to new research from the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. The study also found that more than three quarters of people felt their performance in exams did not reflect their true abilities.

BILL AIMS TO BOOST INVOLVEMENT IN SHAPING PUBLIC SERVICES

The Government has published details of the legislation it believes will give people new rights to influence local services as well as giving councils more responsibility to promote economic development. The Communities Secretary, Hazel Blears, said there was a need to unlock the potential of local people and to involve them in shaping their services and communities.

PUBLIC SECTOR LEADS THE WAY IN E-LEARNING

A report from IMC (UK) Learning Ltd. shows that public sector organisations are leading their private sector counterparts in the uptake of eLearning tools and instruments. Research revealed that more than 80 per cent of respondents from the public sector said their organisation is using bespoke eLearning content, with 67 per cent using eLearning authoring tools and 65 per cent using learning management systems. The corresponding figures for the private sector were 58 per cent, 44 per cent and 46 per cent.
