COUNCILS RAISE CONCERNS OVER NEW ASSESSMENT FRAMEWORK

Local government leaders are seeking assurances about the Comprehensive Area Assessment scheme, due to come into force in April, as they fear it will not help to improve standards. The framework for the new system has been published but the Local Government Association said unless a number of issues were addressed the Assessment would not support councils in delivering continuous improvements.

CARE PROVIDERS GET NEW GUIDANCE ON EQUALITY FOR DISABLED PEOPLE

Social care providers are being told they will have to focus on the barriers facing disabled people to bring about equality. In the third of its three equality bulletins, the Commission for Social Care Inspection says disabled people should get services that enable them to participate in society on an equal basis.

UNDERSTANDING THE NEEDS, ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIOURS OF TELEWORKERS

This research into teleworking, where people work from home for some of the time, instead of travelling to a place of work, was commissioned by the Department for Transport.

It describes attitudes towards teleworking, the factors and conditions motivating and facilitating different groups to work this way along with barriers preventing this type of working. It also outlines the impact of teleworking on travel choices and behaviour.
