Supermarkets are facing new calls from council leaders to cut the amount of packaging on their goods which cannot be easily recycled. The Local Government Association says excessive packaging of food items by supermarkets is undermining householders’ efforts to recycle and pushing up council tax bills.

ONLINE SYSTEM AIMS TO BOOST GRADUATES’ JOB CHANCES

An online career-building website has launched a new higher education tool-set, which aims to improve graduate employability. Abintegro has also signed an agreement with Regent’s College London under which students will use the new system to build their CVs and personal development plans.

The tool-set is designed to help students maximise their chances when they apply for jobs. Spencer Coles, the Director of Marketing & Student Recruitment at Regent’s College, said getting graduates ready for the for the competitive employment market was at the heart of its careers service and the new software would be important to this.
