RECESSION CHANGING IMPACT OF MIGRATION ON CITIES’ JOB MARKETS SAYS STUDY

A report out today says the recession is changing the dynamic between local labour markets and migrants from the new European Union countries. The study by Centre for Cities was conducted in Hull and Bristol and found there no signs yet of a mass exodus of immigrants.

LOTTERY FUNDING WILL SUPPORT FAMILY LEARNING

A project is being launched to help five million families in England to benefit from family learning practitioners. The scheme, known as The Big Impact, aims to improve the quality of support for family learning practitioners by developing and improving training materials.

EXTENDED SCHOOLS SURVEY

The survey sought the reaction of parents and pupils to extended schools which offer access to a wide range of services from 8am to 6pm, 48 weeks a year. The core offers include study support, play and recreation, sport, music, arts and crafts and other special interest clubs, volunteering and business and enterprise activities.
