DIGITAL CONSORTIUM UNVEILS INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT NETWORK FOR BIRMINGHAM

Birmingham could become the first British city with an ‘Intelligent Transport’ network under plans put forward by a digital technology consortium. The proposals would bring together data on traffic congestion, car parking and bus schedules to create real time tracking information related to where someone is when they make an inquiry.

COUNCILS URGED TO BACK CREDIT UNIONS AND TACKLE LOAN SHARKS

The NHS has innovated since its inception 60 years ago. The first total hip replacement operation was performed in 1962 in Wigan, and today there are 62,000 operations each year. COUNCIL PLAYGROUNDS HELPING TO END ‘COTTON WOOL CULTURE’ FOR CHILDREN

Council leaders are calling on parents to let their children be children and to shake off what they call ‘the cotton-wool culture’. The plea has come from the Local Government Association which is promising councils will put adventure back into play and which has produced research showing playgrounds moving away from the days of ‘no ball-games allowed’.
