SURVEY SHOWS CHILDREN IN CARE FEAR BEING STIGMATISED

Almost half of children being brought up in care worry about people knowing their background because they fear being judged, bullied or treated differently. The finding from a survey of young people in children’s homes and foster care is published today in the latest report by the Children’s Rights Director for England, Dr Roger Morgan.

CALL FOR FUNDING TO MEET MOUNTING DEMAND FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS

A leading councillor in Birmingham is calling on the Government to give local authorities more funding to meet the increase in children qualifying for free school meals. Councillor Les Lawrence, the city’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families, said the rise was a direct result of the recession and rising unemployment.
