A city council is checking up on the quality of Home Information Packs produced by estate agents and will use on the spot fines for those that break the rules. The compliance check on the content and accuracy of information contained in the packs is to be carried out by Birmingham City Council.

REFORMERS CALL FOR DEGREE-EDUCATED PRISON OFFICERS

Prison officers should be educated to degree level so that their role moves to becoming a profession, according to a report published today. The Howard League for Penal Reform says officers should not be involved in punishment but in helping to make time spent in jail constructive for prisoners and for society.
