SOCIAL WORK NEEDS A MORALE BOOST

Social Workers’ morale is lower than it was five years ago and social work needs a morale boost. This is the finding of a survey published today which also shows support in the profession for a Government-appointed Chief Social Worker. The Association of Social Work Employment Businesses has published the results ahead of the anticipated publication next month of the report from the Social Work Task Force.

COUNCILS QUESTION GOVERNMENT’S ASSET SELL-OFF PLANS

Local authorities have criticised Government plans to sell off 16 billion of pounds worth of public assets as a way of reducing the growing budget deficit. The Local Government Association says there was no consultation on the asset sell-off plans outlined by the Prime Minister even though they would seriously affect councils.
