MORE TRUST COUNCILLORS THAN GOVERNMENT OVER PUBLIC SERVICE CUTS

The Government should keep out of decisions about public spending in local areas according to more than 2,000 people who took part in a new survey. The results show that 65 per cent of people want local councillors to make decisions about any cuts in their areas.

CITY TO CREATE BIGGEST COMMUNITY ADVICE SERVICE

Manchester is to launch the biggest community legal advice service in England and Wales. The nine million pound scheme will see six new centres being opened in communities where local people have been hit hardest by the recession.

LONG TERM CONDITION PATIENTS GET INFORMATION PRESCRIPTIONS

Some patients with long term conditions, such as heart disease or asthma, have been entitled to personal care plans. But care plans will become compulsory by the end of 2010. The Department of Health has issued guidance on Information Prescriptions which guide people to sources of information to allow them to feel more in control and better able to manage their condition.
