GOVERNMENT URGED TO BRING CARE POLICY AND PRACTICE INTO LINE

A national charity working with older people and their carers has joined forces with the professional association for those working in homecare to call for a major shift to bring care practice into line with Government policy that suggests that more older people should be cared for in their own homes.

SCHEME WILL SUPPORT WOMEN FROM MINORITIES TO JOIN COUNCILS

The first national mentoring scheme designed to increase the number of black, Asian and minority ethnic women becoming local councillors has been launched. To reflect society fully there would need to be almost a thousand women councillors from minority backgrounds.
