PLANS PUBLISHED FOR COUNCILS TO ORGANISE LEARNING AND TRAINING FOR 17-19 YEAR OLDS

Councils are due to take over responsibility for learning and training of 17-19 year olds from the Learning and Skills Council in April 2010. Plans just published show how councils will take the lead and how they will be supported.

ACTION SQUAD TO HELP SOCIAL LANDLORDS TACKLE ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

The social housing watchdog, the Tenant Services Authority, is to set up a new action squad to work with landlords on the ground to tackle anti-social behaviour.

The squad, which will start work early next year, will help landlords improve their services to effectively tackle anti-social behaviour. It will include experienced staff from the front line seconded into the Authority to share their expertise with landlords.

The Audit Commission wants councils and the NHS to move away from concentrating on the mechanics of joint financing and the processes of partnership and instead look at how their joint funding can improve people’s lives.
