‘OPAQUE’ JUSTICE SYSTEM UNDERMINING RIGHTS OF VULNERABLE PEOPLE

The criminal justice system is criticised today for being ‘unwieldy and opaque’ in a new report which says it is unlawfully undermining the ability of thousands of vulnerable adults and children to understand what is happening to them in court. The report from the Prison Reform Trust says they are left to fend for themselves.

COUNCILS JOIN CRACKDOWN ON TENANCY FRAUD

A national crackdown on tenancy cheats has been launched with the aim of recovering up to 10,000 council and housing association homes which have been sublet fraudulently. As a first step the Housing Minister, John Healey, has given councils and housing associations around 8,000 leads to potential tenancy cheats.
