ECO-TOWN PIONEERS TO SHARE FUNDING FOR NEW GREEN HOMES

Four areas are to share new funding to build more that 600 homes to the toughest ever environmental standards. The Government says the money will be a big boost for the local councils driving forward innovative blueprints for the main eco-towns before seeking public approval and planning permission.

CITY’S TRAFFIC SIGNAL SWITCH OFF TRIAL TESTS IDEA OF ‘SHARED SPACE’

A city council has announced that it is switching off traffic signals at two busy road junctions in an experiment to see whether they can operate safely and more effectively for pedestrians and cyclists as well as motorists. Bristol Council says the move is a rare opportunity to test the idea of shared space.

A major reason for the failure to anticipate and warn is that observers of organizations usually tend to view organizations in terms similar to those employed by the people who run them: as rational, sensible and objective. Whereas, in fact, they are usually confused and confusing, paradoxical and contradictory entities. Paradox is at the heart of how organizations work (or don’t work) yet the phenomenon has been strangely unstudied.
