OFSTED SAYS SOME CAREERS ADVICE FAILS YOUNG PEOPLE

Inadequate careers advice is leaving some young people at risk of making the wrong choices about their future, according to a report published today by Ofsted. It says the quality of information and guidance varies across England and, in some cases, fails to meet the needs of those people who are most at risk of ending up not in education, employment or training.

COUNCILS GET NEW GUIDANCE ON TRAVELLERS AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Local authorities have been told they need to work more closely with other agencies to address anti-social behaviour associated with Gypsies and Travellers. New guidance for councils, the police and others has been published as part of a major new campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour.

EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE – EVALUATION OF PILOTS

The Empowering Young People pilots were part of the ten year youth strategy for positive activities. The aim of the pilots was to make funds available so that the most disadvantaged young people in nine pilot areas could access positive activities. The amounts of the monthly subsidy varied from £20 to £40.
