REPORT SAYS ‘SUBSTANTIAL CUTS’ NEEDED IN PUBLIC SPENDING

A new report has claimed that the next Government will have to cut spending on public services by 167 billion pounds or be forced to raise taxes. The Institute of Economic Affairs said the findings of its latest report should be a ‘massive wake up call’ in the run up to the major political parties launching their election manifestos.

WALES FUNDS IMPROVEMENTS IN PLANNING SERVICES

The Welsh Assembly Government is to make money available to improve the delivery of planning services across the country and to idenitfy good practice.The Environment Minister, Jane Davidson, has announced that one and three quarters of a million pounds will go to 22 local councils and three National Park Authorities responsible for planning.
