PUBLIC SECTOR JOB DECLINE SHOWING IN INDEX

The steep decline in public sector jobs is now clearly apparent in the Reed Job Index which reveals that it has the lowest index number of all the sectors. Each month the Job Index tracks the number of new job opportunities and salaries on offer compared to the previous month and against a baseline of 100 set in December last year.

COUNCILS THREATEN LAVISH CRIMINAL LIFESTYLES

Councils are using the Proceeds of Crime Act to end the lavish lifestyles of criminals. Under the Act trained officers can become`accredited financial investigators’ to help ensure those benefiting from crime pay back what they owe to society.

Research commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions found that in some cases employers do use information shortcuts to screen applicants. This is particularly true where employers receive large numbers of job applications. Rejecting those from particular post codes makes the task of short listing and selection more manageable.
