BAN ON COUNCILS SELLING RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY TO END

The ban on councils selling renewable electricity will end on 18 August 2010. This will open new sources of income including the full benefit of the feed in tariff which incentivises renewable electricity. It could mean up to £100 million a year in income for local authorities across England and Wales.

NEW HOMES BONUS FOR FAST TRACK PLANNING CONSENT

In a move to reverse housebuilding decline a New Homes Bonus scheme will be introduced in the Autumn. Councils who take action now to give planning consent and support the construction of new homes where they are needed and wanted will receive direct benefit for their actions.
