OFSTED SAYS COUNCILS FACE BIG CHALLENGES OVER CHILDREN MISSING FROM SCHOOL

Local authorities do not feel confident that they know all the children living in their area so they can fulfil their duties to keep them safe. The concerns are raised in the latest survey from Ofsted, which highlights the challenges councils face in identifying and tracking children who are missing from education.

AUDIT COMMISSION DENIES ‘DAYS AT THE RACES’ CLAIMS IN LETTER TO PICKLES

The chairman of the audit commission has hit back at claims that it forced local councils to adopt fortnightly bin collections or that it spent money on ‘days at the races’ The reports followed the announcement by Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, that the Commission is to be abolished.
