PUBLIC SECTOR SENIOR MANAGERS IN DENIAL AT LOW TRUST LEVELS

Senior managers in the public sector are in denial about low levels of trust in their organisations. This warning comes from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

The CIPD survey of all sectors found that one in three employees rate trust in senior managers as weak, but those at the top have a rosier view. Trust between employees and senior managers appears to be particularly weak in the public sector, but strong in the voluntary sector.

COUNCILS CRITICISED FOR FAILING TO MAKE SAVINGS FROM ONLINE SERVICES

Four out of ten councils have not saved money from using digital tools and technologies despite potential efficiencies of up to £12 million each being available.

Local Government Minister Brandon Lewis criticized those councils that have failed to make savings. Councils which have delivered digital savings have reduced their spending by an average of £1 million and the minister urged all local authorities to take advantage. He said: It is troubling that 40 per cent of councils are yet to drive efficiencies from this opportunity and I would urge these councils to reach out, learn from the best, and accelerate their digital programmes.

GPs need to play a stronger role in co-ordinating care for people with long-term or chronic conditions, according to a new report from The King’s Fund.

Co-ordinated Care for People with Complex Chronic Conditions, funded by Aetna and the Aetna Foundation in the United States, compares five UK-based case studies with a proven track-record in providing care co-ordination in primary and community care settings. It identifies the critical success factors that enable effective care co-ordination and how these might be transferrable to different settings, in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

3D PRINTERS COMING TO SCHOOLS
