It presents a case study describing how Trafford MBC invested in a new integrated voice, data and video communications network from Alcatel, and describes the efficiencies and savings that have been achieved as a result.The new integrated network spans 250 buildings including schools, hospitals, libraries, and independent organisations and supports over 4,700 staff.

It has enabled Trafford to implement a consolidated call-centre, which now handles 80% of enquiries at the first point of contact. Other highlights provided by the Alcatel network include wireless connectivity for staff working on the move, and the support of a new CCTV network with the potential to reduce crime in schools.
