This programme is now available to view on egovtv.tv, the online television channel for public service modernisation. It describes the way in which Birmingham City Council has implemented a sustainable printing solution by converting to multi-functional printers from Kyocera. This reduced the total number of printers needed, saved energy, reduced running costs and freed up floor space.
The efficient cartridge-free printers consume less raw materials than laser printers and this has reduced the amount of waste taken to landfill. The new printers have saved the council a total of 3.1 million pounds so far. Their introduction will also contribute to the target to reduce its CO2 emissions by 60 per cent by 2026, ahead of the Central Government target date of 2050.
GovTV is a dedicated web-cast television channel for governors of public bodies, council members and senior executives across all public sector organisations and is available free to an unlimited audience at anytime, at any location via the internet.
