This programme is now available to view on localgov.tv the online television channel for public service modernization. It describes how Somerset County Council and North Devon Council established a Community Interest Company: South West Internet, to deliver the largest broadband network of its kind in the UK.

The company was formed because residents and businesses in Devon and Somerset were experiencing high levels of digital exclusion with little or no access to broadband.

The programme explores the impact of the high-speed, low-cost network on local businesses and citizens, including faster communications and empowering citizens with better access to information.

GovTV is a dedicated web-cast television channel for governors of public bodies, council members and senior executives across all public sector organisations and is available free to an unlimited audience at anytime, at any location via the internet.
