This programme is now available to view on localgov.tv the online television channel for public service modernisation. It describes how more councils are benefiting from using the Liberata shared services centre located in Barrow-in Furness.

All public bodies employing more than 250 people are being encouraged to join in sharing services for back office operations including finance, HR, estates management, procurement, legal services, travel services and marketing and communications.

The Cabinet Office has established a team with the role of accelerating the take up and developing the strategy for all government departments to converge and consolidate.

The London Borough of Southwark and Barrow Borough council have now been joined by Hounslow, which expects to save £10 million over 10 years and Bromley which has improved benefit processing time from 144 to 27 days.

GovTV is a dedicated web-cast television channel for governors of public bodies, council members and senior executives across all public sector organisations and is available free to an unlimited audience at anytime, at any location via the internet.
