This programme is now available to view on localgov.tv the online television channel for public service modernisation. It describes how the London Borough of Hackney is set to save £3.5 million and transform information access by swapping paper files for an electronic document and records management system.
As well as supporting better information sharing and improving data security, the system has also helped the council to avoid the need to spend £7 million on building an additional floor.
In the programme, Gillian Wheeldon, Head of eBusiness for the Council, discusses the key to the success of their council-wide implementation.
GBTV is a dedicated web-cast television channel for governors of public bodies, council members and senior executives across all public sector organisations and is available free to an unlimited audience at any location via the internet.
