This collection of papers advocates the need for wholesale denationalization of ‘welfare’ and its replacement with voluntary arrangements. The proposals put forward include a ‘safety-net’ for the genuinely needy, with the machinery of state welfare turned over to the market and the voluntary sector, replacing welfare with a private charity and ending the governmentally imposed social security system.
