LONG TERM CONDITION PATIENTS GET INFORMATION PRESCRIPTIONS

Some patients with long term conditions, such as heart disease or asthma, have been entitled to personal care plans. But care plans will become compulsory by the end of 2010. The Department of Health has issued guidance on Information Prescriptions which guide people to sources of information to allow them to feel more in control and better able to manage their condition.

TEACHERS WORKLOAD SURVEY

The 2009 teachers’ workload survey provides data on the hours and working patterns of teachers in maintained primary, secondary and special schools.

Most categories of teacher continue to report working over 50 hours per week. Working hours reported by primary heads in 2009 are still lower than in 2000 but have been increasing since 2005. The working hours reported by primary deputy heads have decreased since 2000. The number of hours worked by primary classroom teachers were lower than in 2000, but they have not decreased significantly since 2003.

SHARED SERVICES FOR SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION

The Children’s Trust school pilot was launched in September 2008 and involves 100 schools. The purpose of the pilot is to support the Children’s Plan’ which aims to make England the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up by putting their needs at the centre of educational policy.
