New fact files illustrating women’s position in society and setting out priority areas for government action have been launched by the Minister for Women, Joan Ruddock.

She said: “Women tell us they feel that their interests are too often ignored, that they feel disconnected from Government and excluded from or on the margins of decision making. We are addressing these priority areas with real action.”

The fact files drawn up include women’s views on how they should be consulted, childcare, family-friendly employment policies, and on violence against women. Also available is a database of facts and figures about women in society.
