The Employment Service has improved its customer service by offering jobs at the end of the phone.For the price of a local phone call unemployed job hunters will be able to call a new national jobs hotline on 0845 6060 234 and be put through to Employment Service Advisers who can inform them about a range of local employer vacancies and other vacancies throughout the UK.

There is a textphone for people with hearing difficulties – 0845 6055 255 – and a line for Welsh language speakers – 0845 606 7890. Hotline Advisers will have access to a database of over 316,000 job vacancies and can put callers in touch with an employer or arrange a job interview. The Hotline is open from 9am-6pm weekdays and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

Speaking at the launch, ES Chief Executive Leigh Lewis said: ” It is another significant way of improving our service to our customers. Employment Service Direct is being widely advertised on television, radio and in local newspapers. I would like to encourage unemployed people to call the service and to make very full use of the advice and help which our Advisers can offer.”
