The Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA) has produced proposals for national standards for thousands of residential care and nursing homes for elderly people.Commissioned last February by the Department of Health to draw up draft standards, the CPA has delivered its final report and recommendations.

The draft standards cover issues, amongst others, such as quality of care, staffing, diet and nutrition, personal and health care and accommodation.

The full text of the draft standards submitted by the CPA will be published by the Department of Health, when they go out for consultation later this year.
